Rules for Dogs on the Beach

    Dogs are permitted to be off-leash: Dog owners must have leash in hand, have their dog under voice command and must clean up excrement. At all other times, dogs must be on leash and under complete control, even in the water. Only Isle of Palms residents are required to get permit for their dogs.

    SUMMER HOURS (April 1 – September 14)
    Off-leash: 5:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
    On-leash: 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m.

    WINTER HOURS (September 15 – March 31)
    Off-leash: 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m.
    On-leash: 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

  • SULLIVAN’S ISLAND

    Yes, but all dogs must have a valid Sullivan’s Island permit (call Town Hall number below)– residents and visitors. All dogs must be curbed. Pet waste bags may be found near the entrance of each beach access path.

    SUMMER HOURS (May 1 – September 30)
    Off-leash: 5:00am – 10:00am
    No dogs on beach: 10:00am – 6:00pm
    On-leash: 6:00pm – 5:00am

    WINTER HOURS (October 1 – April 30)
    Off-leash: 5:00am – 12Noon
    On-leash: 12Noon -5:00am
